Next Step: Serve
"For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve . . . "
Mark 10:45
Part of maturing as believer-a disciple-is looking to others interests instead of just our own. Yes, love is a sign of maturing, and the love that comes from God is an other focused-love. There is a time and place we realize there is a bigger picture--that the world doesn't revolve around us, but around God's big mission. You can be a part of that bigger picture, using your abilities, time, and energy to help further God's mission through His Church to let the world know the Good News in Jesus Christ.

Serving Within Our Church
There are lots of ways to help serve within the church
which is sort of like serving within your family:
you contribute to your family by helping with the
household. Serving within the church prepares
us for serving outside the church--our mission field!
Ask about one of our Gifts & Talents Inventory to think about how you can contribute to the spiritual family!

Serving Within Our Community
CCC has its own "mission post" on 117th street, a space we are using as tool to connect with our community and serve our community in the name of Jesus! We also partner with other gospel-motivated ministries in the area that could use some volunteers. There are also a few select non-profits (not Christian) that we encourage with volunteer support because they are working toward a common good goal that we both share for our neighborhood & NYC.
Serve in our church
Use your unique gifts to help build the Kingdom.
Serving within Community Christian Church may be the road to discovering where your passion and gifts intersect with the needs around us. Begin the journey with a conversation with one of our leaders to find your starting place!
Volunteer FAQ
How do I volunteer?
It starts with a conversation to find out some basic information--where are the needs, where does your passion reside, and what are your gifts, skills, and experience. We want to help people find the best place to serve with confidence and joy. There are some places of service within the church, some outside the church in the community, and either might have some basic expectations (in church-be a member of the church, community- have a photo ID).
How do I volunteer with kids?
Again it starts with a conversation looking at a couple of big questions: What age group are you interested in? What is your experience in volunteering or working with children? With all roles with children there will be a background check. Are you ready to assist or ready to lead might need to be assessed, and we believe in apprenticing-- even with people who have great experience! With lead roles and teaching roles, we require membership with the church. Start by letting our Children's Director know of your interest!
How do I volunteer with music?
It starts with a conversation to find out few simple things that are usually connected to your skill and ability. Some roles take less skill and ability, while other roles take more. There might possibly be an audition for some roles. Whether it is Art Camp at the CCC building or being part of a worship team, start by letting our Worship Leader know of your interest!
How do I volunteer with students?
Again it starts with a conversation looking at a couple of big questions: What age group are you interested in? Middle School? High School? College? What is your experience in volunteering or working with students? With all roles with minors there will be a background check. Are you ready to assist or ready to lead might need to be assessed, and we believe in apprenticing-- even with people who have great experience!
