Baptism

Next Step: Be Baptized

"I follow Jesus, so I follow Him into baptism."

One of our first acts of faith as a believer, a new disciple, is to be baptized as Jesus commanded us (Matt 28:19-20).  As we read the recorded history of the first believers in the first church, we see people first believed the good news, then were immediately baptized (Acts 2:38-41, 8:12, 16:31-33, 18:7-8).  We also see in the New Testament, baptism is something that takes place at the beginning of a disciple's life--not in the middle or the end.  Baptism is part of the salvation process that is connected to the wonder of faith, repentance, forgiveness of sins, and the Holy Spirit indwelling a new believer (Rom 6:4, Col 2:12, I Peter 3:21, Gal 3:27).
"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;  one Lord, one faith, one baptism;  one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." --Ephesians 4:4-6
